This is a cozy and creative riso printing course in Utrecht, meant for beginners (and anyone who just wants to make something fun). Over the course of four sessions, you’ll design and riso print your very own zine: a small handmade booklet or mini-magazine full of your own ideas.

A zine is a great way to tell a short story or explore a theme through images and words. Your illustrations will be the focus, but we’ll also look at how to work with text, layout and playful typography. If you’ve ever had a poem, story or even a book idea floating around in your head, this is a great place to try it out and see how it works in zine form.

What to expect:
Across the four workshop days, we’ll focus on analogue techniques, storytelling, and experimentation. We’ll play with materials like markers, old magazines, collage, and paper.
We’ll also explore different zine formats (like leporello, fold-out books or simple binding), and you’ll choose your favorite to work with for your own zine.

There’s no need to bring anything (but feel free to bring your own texts, photos or images if you’d like!). This is a fully analog experience. No laptops needed, just your hands and your imagination.

You’ll get:
• 5 copies of your own risoprinted zine
• 20 riso masters to experiment with during the course
• 20 sheets of Biotop paper (90 g/m²) per session to play with
• A printed riso zine guide full of tips and color swatches to take home
• Lots of helpful riso knowledge & personal guidance
• Drinks, snacks & a cozy, creative atmosphere with fellow makers

Whether you're new to riso or just love making zines, this course is a great way to slow down, play, and create something personal.
